Meet the Doctor

Dr. Angela Austin, DMD

Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist
Advanced Training in Airway, Oral Function & Laser Frenectomy Care

Dr. Angela Austin is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of Little Dental Studio. She created this practice with one clear vision: to offer children a gentle, unhurried, and thoughtful dental experience rooted in compassion, trust, and individualized care.

As both a mother of three and a pediatric dentist, Dr. Angela brings a unique perspective to every interaction. She understands that caring for children requires patience, flexibility, and empathy — and that the dental experience impacts not only the child, but the entire family. This dual role allows her to connect with parents in a deeply relatable way and to care for each child as if they were her own.

Dr. Angela earned her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, she served as Vice President of the Student National Dental Association, was Co-Editor of the Penn Dental Journal, and participated in numerous community service initiatives throughout Philadelphia schools. She was selected as a National Health Service Corps Scholar and later served two years providing dental care in a dentally underserved community, where she gained extensive experience treating children with special healthcare needs, including autism and cerebral palsy.

Her advanced training includes comprehensive experience in:
• craniofacial anomalies
• interceptive orthodontics
• trauma management
• sedation dentistry
• and dentistry under general anesthesia

Dr. Angela completed her pediatric dental residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, where she also served as Chief Resident. During this time, she participated in an externship in Honduras providing dental care to children in an orphanage — an experience that deeply impacted her and led her to become a long-term godparent to a child there.

She is proud to be a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an attending dentist at Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Angela has been recognized as a Top Dentist by both Washingtonian Magazine and Northern Virginia Magazine.

In addition to her strong foundation in traditional pediatric dentistry, Dr. Angela has developed advanced expertise in airway-focused care, oral function evaluation, and laser frenectomy procedures. She is known for her conservative, thoughtful approach — always prioritizing function, timing, and the unique needs of each child.

Dr. Angela believes strongly in prevention, education, and positive early experiences. She understands that a child’s perception of dentistry is formed at a very young age, and she takes this responsibility seriously. Her philosophy centers on respecting children, moving at their pace, and creating an environment that feels safe, calm, and even fun.

She currently serves as Vice President of the Alexandria Dental Society and is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Association, Autism Society of America, and the National Association of Professional Women.
