At Little Dental Studio, your child's safety and comfort always come first. When imaging is needed, we use advanced digital X-ray technology to evaluate areas that cannot be seen during a visual exam. Digital X-rays give us a more complete picture of your child's oral health, allowing us to make smarter, more informed decisions about their care. All imaging is recommended thoughtfully and only when appropriate, never as a routine measure.
Digital x-rays allow us to:
  • Detect cavities at an early stage
  • Evaluate tooth development and eruption
  • Monitor growth, spacing, and alignment
  • Assess oral health concerns that may not be visible during a clinical exam

Are dental X-rays safe for children?

Yes. Digital X-rays are very safe for children and use significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. At Little Dental Studio, we are mindful of radiation exposure and only recommend imaging when it is clinically necessary. Your child's safety is always the first consideration.

How often does my child need dental X-rays?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. The frequency of X-rays depends on your child's individual oral health, cavity risk, and stage of development. Dr. Angela takes a conservative approach and recommends imaging only when it will provide information that meaningfully guides your child's care.

What can dental X-rays detect that a visual exam cannot?

Digital X-rays allow Dr. Angela to see between teeth, below the gumline, and beneath existing restorations. This makes it possible to detect cavities in their earliest stages, monitor tooth development and eruption, evaluate jaw growth, and identify concerns that would otherwise go unnoticed until they became more serious.

What is the difference between digital X-rays and traditional X-rays?

Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays and produce images instantly that can be enlarged and reviewed together with parents on screen. They are also more comfortable for children since the sensors used are smaller and the process is faster.

What if my child is nervous or sensitive about X-rays?

We hear this often, and we are fully prepared for it. Our team works slowly, explains every step in child-friendly language, and never forces a child through a process they are not ready for. If your child needs a break, we pause. If they need extra time, we give it. A calm, positive experience is always the goal.

Do you always take X-rays at every visit?

No. X-rays are only taken when Dr. Angela determines they are clinically appropriate. We do not use a blanket policy of imaging at every visit. Each recommendation is based on your child's specific needs, history, and risk level at that point in time.
