Common Pediatric Dental Emergencies
Chipped or Broken Tooth
Rinse your child's mouth gently with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of the face to reduce swelling. Save any tooth fragments if possible and contact our office as soon as you can. Dr. Angela will evaluate the injury and determine the best path forward.
Knocked-Out Baby Tooth
Do not attempt to reinsert a knocked-out baby tooth. Contact our office so Dr. Angela can evaluate the area, check for any additional damage, and advise you on what to expect as the permanent tooth continues to develop.
Toothache or Persistent Pain
A toothache that lingers or worsens should never be ignored. Rinse the mouth with warm water and check for any food or debris caught between the teeth. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum or tooth. Call our office to schedule an urgent evaluation.
Facial Swelling or Dental Abscess
Swelling in the face, jaw, or gums can be a sign of infection and should be treated promptly. Do not wait to see if it improves on its own. Contact Little Dental Studio right away so we can assess the situation and begin treatment as quickly as possible.
Cut or Injured Soft Tissue
If your child has bitten their lip, tongue, or cheek or sustained a cut inside the mouth, apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth and a cold compress. If bleeding is heavy or does not slow within 10 to 15 minutes, contact our office or visit the nearest emergency room.
Object Caught Between Teeth
Try gently using dental floss to work the object free. Never use sharp tools or pointed objects to probe the area. If you are unable to remove it comfortably, give us a call and we will help.
